Introduction
Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. is one of the major shipbuilding enterprises under the flag of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). The Company consists of one headquarter in Pudong of Shanghai, and three shipyards, i.e. the main yard, Shanghai Shipyard Co. Ltd., and Shanghai jiangnan-Changxing Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., being a comprehensive industrial conglomerate specialized in building ships, offshore engineering products and non-ship products. The production is mainly carried out in Pudong, Puxi, Changxing Island and Chongming Island of Shanghai. Besides, the Company has also interest-controlled many businesses, boasting a complete set of marine equipment fabrication industrial chains.
Hudong-Zhonghua possesses shipbuilding and marine equipment manufacturing bases covering an area of 4.8 million m2, 7,300m wharf lines, 19 quays, five 300,000DWT VLCC class dry docks, eight gantry cranes of 600ton capacity or above, various automatic production equipment and state-of-the-art flat section and curved section production lines, managing a combined asset worth more than 38 billion RMB.
Hudong-Zhonghua has profound expertise in the R&D, engineering and construction of ships ranging from naval ships, large LNG ships, large/ultra-large container ships, offshore engineering products to special purpose ships. The Company has built more than 3000 various ships, including LNG carriers, LPG carriers, medium and large sized container vessels, chemical tankers, Ro/Ro ships, oil tankers, bulk carriers, passenger ships, special purpose vessels, battle ships, auxiliary navy ships etc for numerous shipping companies and navies all over the world. Our products have been exported to over 40 countries and regions in Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and South America, enjoying favorable comments from the ship owners and maritime circles. Besides, the Company has also completed a number of prestigious projects such as the Nanpu Bridge in Shanghai, the Capital Mansion in Beijing, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Building, the 300,000 m3 dry-type gas tank and so on, which have received great popularity nationwide.
Hudong-Zhonghua is an important armament manufacturing base for Chinese PLA navy. The Company has built more than 900 combat ships and auxiliary navy ships such as new type missile frigates and comprehensive landing ships, which has won itself a reputation as “the Cradle of Chinese Frigates and Landing Ships”. Besides, the Company has also exported missile frigates, offshore patrolling vessels, comprehensive replenishment ships and various types of other military products to Algeria, Pakistan, and Thailand, etc.
Hudong-Zhonghua has succeeded in building the first LNG carrier in China. This has not only blazed a trail in China, but also raised China’s shipbuilding level as well as status as a whole. The Company has maintained its position as a fore-runner in designing and building container ships. While successfully building a number of 8,530TEU container ships, the Company has forged ahead to win the newbuilding contracts of 9,400TEU, 13,500TEU and 14,500TEU container ships, and to design on its own the even larger 20,500TEU container ships. The Company has worked vigorously to explore offshore market, too. Its accomplishments in building China’ first offshore oil drilling platform, completing the geographic survey ship within the world shortest construction period, and naming the first mid-deep water drilling ship, among others, are the major milestones in the Company’s drive to develop businesses in the offshore industry.It is the only base in China for production of the geographic survey ships.
Hudong-Zhonghua possesses a first-class, nation-level technology center, a state key LNG floating storage and transportation equipment laboratory, a postdoctoral workstation, and employs over 1,100 engineers and technicians, distinguishing itself with strong capabilities in R&D and information management. The Company has received the ISO9001 certification from the classification societies of CCS, ABS, DNV and LR successively, thus established and operated a complete and efficient quality assurance system. Over 20 products are the winners of national gold and silver medals of quality. In addition, the Company has permanently adhered to the development strategy of “Digitalized and environment-friendly shipbuilding”, pushing forward comprehensive HSE management and successively acquiring the ISO 14001 and OHSAS18001 certificates.
